109 Hester St, New York, NY 10002
2023
This was my regular place for a while.
I remember the first time I went here. I used to go to a more expensive place in midtown. But I figured I barely got anything left up there, maybe like four pieces of hair on a good day, and it's 40 peanuts a cut. I'm no Einstein Divinchi but if my math is right that $10 for each piece of hair. That's too much.
I find this place and I'll never forgot the first time I went.
Go in, bald twin grabs me. "What cut do you want?". Always a buzz cut. "You want high or low?". What do you think?. "You have nothing left, you need to do high cut."
Brutal.
Every time after that it was the same.
Walk in. No appointment. One of the bald twins cuts me up. $10. I give 'em a $20, no change (it always comes back to me, baby). Walk out.
No words exchanged. Not that we could exchange any words even if we wanted to. He doesn't speak much English and I don't speak Chinese.
That's how it should be. Just two men doing business. In out.
There's another good story from this place I remembered...
There's a woman that works there who grabbed me a few times. The last time I went there she continuously coughed in my face. Didn't turn her head or try to cover her mouth, just right into my face.
That's power.
Even though I haven't been there in a few years, the bald twins still wave to me as I walk by these days.
Nice guys.
